It's been emotional

Seconds out, final round.

The Big Blogger is at its end. It's swansong. The bell has sounded for the final lap. The fourth official has held up his board, and the hooter tooted [other sporting metaphors deleted on grounds of breaching UN rules on "cruel and unusual" punishment].

I know of about eight articles by pseuds' regulars - so at least five of them will be going up here in a few hours.

Good luck everyone, and I'll see you on the other side…

Ebren

If anyone cares - Pseuds' has had 65 articles posted, which have been viewed 10,000+ times in the last two weeks (I didn't sort out tracking software before then).

People have logged on from Reykjavik; Vancouver; Beijing, Taipei, and Guangzhou in China; Jo-berg; Dubai; Dallas; four locations in south Australia; Auckland; and New York.

More predictable visitors have come from Belgrade, Sweden, Barcelona, Tahiti, Edinburgh, London, and Manchester.

So far we have earned $1.21 towards the Sean and Barry and us present/visit to Tahiti fund from the adverts that I am not allowed to plug according to the terms and conditions.

Where's the fat lady? Is she ready? What's she gonna sing?

Congrats on the blog Ebren. I hope we will be able to keep it going after Big Bugger has finished.

Of course those locations are just for the servers. We all know that this site is only visited by regulars of The Dog and Digit pub in Barnoldswick.

BTW I dont know if I am allowed to talk about the ads or whether just Ebren isnt, but I clicked through to the E.ON 'shoot the O'. Had to force myself to stop playing (I dont usually play such things so am rubbish). Will probably end up playing till 3am tonight.

Pseud regulars - I believe the more ads you click the more this site will get, and possibly higher paying ones.

jonny's basically won already hasn't he? Probably deserved too, he writes well enough.

Long live Pseuds say I.

Many thanks, Ebren, and bravo for your initial rebellious impulse to start the site up.
It'll be interesting to see what happens without the stimulus of BB, but it looks to me as if there's a solid nucleus of people contributing here, who'll keep going anyway.

I'll go along with that Andy, many congrats Ebren. Im basically respectful of certain academic conventions, this is why Im anxiously waiting to receive GU confirmation about my most recent failure, so I can post it immediately over here. Fingers crossed, all the same, for the other "pseuds" also competing

I've got quite a lot that I haven't written, and things come up from time to time (as my post this morning shows).

Hopefuly it will keep going, and my media empire will grow, mwa ha ha ha.

I've go three entries ready to go already - so there will be something this afternoon (unless they all win).

Long live the spirit of rebellious independence. I'm sure we've all enjoyed this site as much if not more than some of the GU sportsblog strands, and I do hope it'll continue.
Don't expect many visitors from Scotland - as someone pointed out either somewhere here or on OBO, I will be using Scotland's only internet connection for the next 6 weeks, exclusively!
May not get much written during the World Cup, depends how many boring matches I find myself sitting through!
Cheers and thanks for your hard work, Ebren.

Second over, Friday afternoon, first England game of the world cup.

I reckon that's some powerful OBO mojo.

kokomo said...

first ever e-mail to OBO get's published! (second crashed and burned, mainly cause it accused ingle of plagiarism i guess). Plus, yesterdays fiver had a letter from my namesale (though not me, honest ebren).

Surely today can only get better if i win big blogger with my only entry today?

KK - Congrats on losing your cherry. mimi and I are also OBOed up today so Pseuds' is doing well. MotM is strangely absent.

Will they never tell us who won?

Did they all back Kauto Star and are now getting drunk?

I am running out of finger-nails here....

I reckon they've offered the winner a really appalling deal (2p a word and you have to get Glendenning's coffee) and ferocious negotiations are in progress.

Ebren: Mouth is there now, and with what is probably his first email. It's a matter of wonderment that I've got on at all, Sean pretty resolutely ignores my musings, whether they are profane, sacred, on-topic or off. And they all ignore any email I send in with a serious comment about the cricket.
Huh.
And they won't get that pissed on Sean's winnings at Central London prices!

Zeph: it probably also involves something deeply unpleasant with Glendinning and whips, as we exclusively revealed somewhere here on Pseuds the other night!

HB/Sir Olly has just been deleted from Rob Smyth's thread.

I've got absolutely no clue why.

But a certain Swedish singer has re-emerged...

Anonymous said...

Ebren: what name did you use for the OBO this afternoon? I'd like to think Albert Cattermole was one of ours. Isn't he the bloke who owned the weird pet shop in the Orlando The Marmalade Cat books?

Unknown said...

OBOing as always under my real name of James Andrews.

guitougoal said...

the swedish singer remind me of the cat with 9 lives,
didn't lose the voice, may need more backup singers
for his comeback.

Good morning all,

welcome back in the building.

No Big Booger today?

Anonymous said...

Seani has been on the OBO today so I dont expect we will be getting the Booger til tomorrow.

Ebren, I wouldn't have picked you for a partial Kiwi. Not sure why not though.

Although I'm sure the hardest working man in journalism will be on to the BB bassoon as he finished.

Silence. Then wind whistles. Tumbleweed crosses empty street.

They like to keep us on tenterhooks, don't they? It's Sean's way of punishing us for a few mildly critical remarks posted on last week's BB blog.
I fear we will have to wait until next week for any results.

pipita said...

Yeah, exactly mimi. Think Sean's being very inconsiderate with all those who sent their essays to BB, he could have announced the new date or the reasons why its being postponed somewehre in the GU blog by now

guitougoal said...

you guys relax and be patient,it's the nobel prize they are talking about, the cream de la cream, the ultimate reward to the one endowed with the gift of sportswriting. 'the best of the best"
-the Blogulitzer price-

Anonymous said...

guitou: but I bet there won't be an all expenses paid media party for the losers! A quiet announcement somewhere obscure is what will happen.

pipita said...

Guitou

Im not sure Im ready for a "blogulitzer" prize... By the way, think you got confused with the World XI selection I put foward in this week's best of youtube blog. You questioned me for including Thuram in what you seemed to think was a selection of 70's players only. I meant it to be 1970 to the present day.

I have only just been able to get to pseuds after pesky work getting in the way of OBOing, but I did put ask Sean about Big Blogger on one of my OBO e-mails and he said that he had been short of staff (sickness rife at GU Towers) and that BB would be back "at the beginning of next week". So we must wait.

I'm abiding by Pipita's academic conventions and giving GU first refusal on my comp entry, though Ebren has another of mine. I'll certainly write more for pseuds and I hope others will too.

Well played Ebren.

PS You don't need to be a cricket bore like mimi and me to enjoy Andy Bull's Zimbabwe blog started Thursday and still going strong now. Does QuicknStraight post here? He should.

guitougoal said...

mimi, losers can find the light somewhere else if you know what I mean.
pipita, i did miss something didn't i? that's the story of my life, always missed the last metro in Paris.Won't be late for a game at the monumental though...

Anonymous said...

I did think when I saw that Sean Ingle was on the OBO that something was amiss. That's a big chunk of a day for the editor to be glued to a screen, well two screens I suppose.

Night all

pipita said...

Guitou

Not to worry, you didnt miss anything very relevant...As for visiting the monumental, it will be my pleasure, please be my guest any time

guitougoal said...

thank you pipita that would be something, to right a story, i'll do it for sure , in french, you do the translation in spanish and tahiti recap everything in litterature for the blog.He can do that so well he may become the gu syndicated columnist afterward.

Tweet it, digg it
